Stockport Town take on Bacup Borough for a place in the NWCFL Division One Playoff Final. Read more in the Match Preview here!

Stockport Town take on Bacup Borough in the Division One Playoff Semi-Final at Stockport Sports Village on Monday evening.

The Lions had to wait until the final game of the regular season to find out who they would face in the playoffs and Bacup’s 2-2 draw at home against Daisy Hill saw them climb to 5th and set up this fixture.

Barnton, who finished 3rd in the league table, will host Cheadle Town (6th) in the other playoff semi-final, with the playoff final set for Saturday 15th May.

Stockport go into this fixture on the back of an extended break due to the regular season finishing last Saturday, but the Lions will be full of confidence having broken the club record with a 7-0 victory away at Whitchurch Alport.

Our visitors Bacup arrive to Lambeth Grove following their draw versus Daisy Hill, but prior to that result they had won three of their previous four matches, including a league double over Ashton Town.

The Lions have done themselves proud in this their first ever completive season in the North West Counties Football League, having maintained a position in and around the playoff places from the very start of the season.

Town boss Calum Sykes will walk out with his side once again having witnessed a fantastic first season in the league, including entertaining football, some outstanding goals and fighting with the leagues best throughout, including a league double over eventual league champions Hanley Town.

Matthew Barlow and Kelvin Trippier, Bacup’s top two scorers this season will be hoping to help see Brent Peters’ side through to the final. Barlow missed Borough’s draw on Saturday but leads the goalscoring charts with 14 league goals this season.

Meanwhile Nathan Neequaye will be raring to go following his hat-trick vs Whitchurch Alport, taking his tally for the season to 19 goals in all competitions, followed by winger Chris Sherrington on 13 goals.

Kick-off at Stockport Sports Village is 8pm.
