Stockport Town vs Carlisle City: Match Preview

August 10, 2016

Stockport Town take on new league side Carlisle City this Saturday in the Hallmark Security League at Stockport Sports Village.

The Lions will be looking to bounce back after a midweek defeat at home to Chadderton. That 4-3 defeat against a strong Chadderton side has shown this may prove to be a very competitive league this season.

Despite defeat the match proved to be thoroughly entertaining and this Saturday’s visitors Carlisle will be looking to make a statement in their first away game of the season.

City make the long trip down the M6 after securing a hard fought 4-3 victory over St Helens Town last weekend, and having impressed in front of a crowd of 120, the away side will be hoping there will be a number of travelling fans at Lambeth Grove.

Calum Sykes will be looking for a positive performance and result following the defeat on Tuesday night and despite it still being an early period in the league campaign, the town boss will be looking for his side to gather some momentum, starting on Saturday.

Familiar faces returned to the scoresheet for the Lions as Joe Armstrong and Chris Sherrington found the net, and their was also a goal for new striker Adam Latham who will no doubt be looking to increase his goal tally.

Marks Boyd, Worrall and Birch were on target for Carlisle last Saturday, along with Jordan Atkinson, and striker Worrall will also be looking to find the target once again for James Tose’s side.

All the action gets underway from 3pm at Stockport Sports Village, Lambeth Grove, this Saturday.
