The Lions welcome Holker Old Boys to Town

September 8, 2016

Stockport Town welcome Holker Old Boys to Stockport Sports Village on Saturday afternoon in the Hallmark Security League in what issue to be an entertaining match-up.

The Lions returned to winning ways last weekend with a home victory over AFC Blackpool, meanwhile Holker, who currently sit 10th in the league, won at home to Atherton LR on Tuesday night.

Old Boys recently hit a rough patch in league form, losing three matches in a row, but have since returned to form and they will be hoping that the goals from David Swarbrick, five already this season, will continue to help them rise up the league standings.

Stockport come into this home fixture knowing that they have produced three 3-1 victories this season at Lambeth Grove and will be hoping the pattern continues on Saturday. Midfielder Andy Graham grabbed his third goal of the season last Saturday and will be looking for more against Holker.

Last seasons meeting between both sides in the NWCFL saw Holker run out 3-1 victors at SSV, with both teams finishing high in the league, Town 4th and Holker 7th.

The Lions will be on the hunt to avenge last year’s home result and Calum Sykes will make sure that his players are ready for the challenge ahead.

Another home win for Stockport could see them pull away from the bottom half of the league and land them 11th if other results go their way. However an away win for Holker could see them rise even further away from Town and enter the final playoff place in 6th.

All the action gets underway at Stockport Sports Village at 3pm.
