Lions vs Eccleshall - Match Preview

September 16, 2016

Stockport Town welcome Eccleshall to Stockport Sports Village on Saturday afternoon in the Hallmark Security League.

The Lions will be glad to get back to league action following Tuesday’s match away at Ashton Town being abandoned due to floodlight failure. That match will be rearranged at a later date in the season.

Eccleshall and their manager Jim Leech arrive at Lambeth Grove having not won a league match this season, however this season has seen various results that not many expected and so Stockport will not be taking their visitors lightly.

Nathan Neequaye has returned to action for Town with a fine run of form, scoring three goals in his last two starts, meanwhile Adam Latham will be pressing for another start up front as joint topscorer (3) following Tuesday’s abandonment.

Eccleshall come into this match on the back of a 6-0 away loss at Brocton in the FA Vase First Qualifying Round. Joint topscorers Mitchell Brown and Travis Johnson (3 each) will be hoping to find the back of the net once again, just like they both did in a 4-4 home draw versus Alsager Town.

A fourth home win of the season for Stockport could see them rise up to mid-table in 11th place, meanwhile a first win of the season for Eccleshall would see them lift of the bottom and replace Ashton Town in 21st position.

All the action gets underway at Stockport Sports Village on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
