Stockport Town host new Hallmark Security League side FC Oswestry Town on Tuesday evening at Stockport Sports Village.
The Lions come into this game on the back of a thumping 7-1 victory last Saturday at home to Eccleshall, a result that saw Town leading 5-0 at half-time. That win saw Calum Sykes’ side rise up to 12th in the league, with the playoffs not far off.
Oswestry, brand new to the North West Counties Football league this season, have, like many other new clubs this campaign, got off to a good start and sit one place below Stockport in the league table.
Dan Stevens’ side arrive at Lambeth Grove also in good form following a 1-0 away win at Bacup Borough on Saturday afternoon, and an unbelievable 11-0 home win over Rock Rovers in the Shropshire Cup exactly seven days ago.
Stockport are unbeaten in their last three home games following wins over AFC Blackpool and Eccleshall, with a 2-2 drew against Holker Old Boys splitting those results. Sykes has had the help of Nathan Neequaye returning from retirement to thank for the recent form, with the striker finding the net four times on Saturday.
A fifth home win of the season could see the Lions continue their rise up the table as far as 9th, just four points off the playoff places. However Oswestry have won all of their matches in the league on the road this season and will be looking for a fourth away win on Tuesday evening.
Stockport’s Neequaye returned just three matches ago and already has seven league goals to his name, and after Saturday’s four goals he will be on the hunt for his 8th and more.
Meanwhile the away side will be looking to Jack Harris to fire them to victory and he will be hoping to secure his 8th goal of the season in all competitions on Tuesday.
All the action gets underway at Stockport Sports Village on Tuesday evening, kick-off 8pm.
