Stockport Town return to home action on Tuesday evening as they host Atherton LR at Stockport Sports Village in the Hallmark Security League.
The Lions have seen a recent slump in form in all competitions and are still without a victory in their last seven encounters in all competitions.
Calum Sykes’ side welcome Atherton to Lambeth Grove looking to get back to winning ways having seen his side suffer consecutive league defeats at home to Widnes a fortnight ago, and then a narrow 2-1 away defeat to league leaders Whitchurch Alport a week later.
Despite the dip in form Stockport have not been hit too badly with regards to their league position as they see themselves sitting mid-table in 14th place, but with up to three games in-hand over some sides The Lions could claw there way back up towards the playoff places.
Tuesday’s visitors, Atherton LR, come into this fixture on the back of a similar run of bad form having not won in the league since mid-October. Most recently LR have lost their last two fixtures in the league, firstly at home to Carlisle City and then away at Oswestry Town last Saturday.
A victory for Atherton on Tuesday evening could be a turning point in their season and could see them cut the gap to Silsden in 18th place to just one point. Meanwhile a home victory for Sykes’ Lions could see them begin to claw back their games in hand and rise to 12th above St Helens Town.
All the action gets underway at Stockport Sports Village on Tuesday evening, kick-off 7:45pm.
