Vacancy: Assistant Club Secretary

December 18, 2016

Stockport Town FC are seeking to appoint an Assistant Club Secretary to support the day-to-day running of the club.

The North West Counties Football League club, established in 2014 has grown significantly in a short period of time and now have 3 teams, a first team, U21s and U18s. As a result an Assistant Club Secretary is needed to support the Club Secretary in the day-to-day running of the club.

The successful candidate will join a team of ambitious people who aim to establish Stockport Town as the number one club for player development in Stockport.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to get more involved with football administration. The position is voluntary, but will provide a range of elements to develop a range of skills that could support career progression.

Ideally, applicants should be computer literate and have access to Internet and Email on a daily basis.

Included in the position will be the following tasks:

- First Team match day duties
- Lead secretarial duties for the U21s
- Assisting the Club Secretary with a range of club operations including:

- Fixture management including all match day administration
- Liaising with all relevant stakeholders including Club managers and officials, various football authorities, match officials, and attending league meetings as Club representative as required
- Coordination and maintenance of Player disciplinary matters and records
- Preparation and facilitation of player registrations
- Ensuring regulatory compliance and upkeep of Club records in line with specified requirements

Applicants should be locally based. Training will be provided where necessary. The successful candidate will report direct to the Club Secretary.

Background to the Club
Stockport Town FC were established in February 2014. The club was set-up with the view of giving more players the opportunity to play a good standard of football in the local area. In spring 2014 the club applied for a place in the North West Counties despite never having kicked a ball. Even with a strong application, the FA decided against allowing the club to enter at this level, citing “No track record” as the main reason.

Following the bad news, the club decided to play a season of non-competitive matches against established clubs throughout the 2014/15 season, with a view to re-applying the following year. In May 2015 the club re-applied for the league and having proven that the club could operate efficiently whilst gathering some impressive results on the pitch, the FA accepted the application. The rest is history!

The club now has a First Team competing at the top of the North West Counties Division One, an U21s team playing in the Cheshire County U21s Premier Division and an U18s team competing in the North West Youth Alliance.

The club were recently awarded Team of the Year by Imagine FM.
