Stockport Town Football Club are glad to announce a partnership deal with S1 Goalkeeping with the suppliers also sponsoring the club’s goalkeepers.
In a period where the club’s first team goalkeeper, Daniel Whiting, received the Division One Goalkeeper of the Month award for February from the North West Counties Football League, this deal couldn't be better timed as professionalism in and around the club grows.
S1 Goalkeeping was set up by founders Scott Dutton and Scott Furlong, both of whom have vast experience in goalkeeping and have always had a vision of creating their own glove. Dutton was a professional at both Wolverhampton Wanderers and made the League One bench 10 times during a spell at Crawley Town, meanwhile Furlong began his career at Coventry City before establishing himself as a local non-league goalkeeper.
Scott Dutton, Co-Founder of S1 Goalkeeping, commented: “We only started S1 three months or so ago and the growth from it has been amazing. Dave [Wild] approached us on social media and we were delighted to help the keepers involved at Stockport Town.
The former Wanderers goalkeeper added: “We are aiming to grow more and more and spread the word as best we can.”
S1’s intention is to provide a high quality and affordable goalkeeper glove for local and professional goalkeepers, and Stockport Town gained the bonus of having the company sponsor the goalkeepers at the club.
Stockport’s goalkeeper Daniel Whiting spoke of what the partnership meant to himself as well as the club. He said: “Having them sponsor me is a huge privilege. Having a goalkeeping brand is massive to young aspiring goalkeepers like myself, I can't wait to use them and be a part of there plans.
“This is a great step forward for the club. It just goes to show how professional the club is becoming and the efforts being made by gaffer and the rest of the staff.”
With over 25 goalkeepers wearing their products, with Whiting and Lewis Fielding adding to that list from Stockport Town.
Lions boss, Dave Wild, commented on the partnership, he said: “On our side it’s obviously another great link towards professionalism for the club, as well as being a great thing for our goalkeepers who’ll be sponsored and supported in what they are doing week in, week out, on the pitch.”
