Stockport Town lost 3-0 to an efficient Whitchurch Alport side last Saturday afternoon at Yockings Park in the Hallmark Security League.
The Division One promotion favourites saw goals from Simon Everall (2) and Benjamin Mills supply the difference against a Stockport side who were reduced to 10-men in the second half and failed to convert their own chances.
Everall put the home side in front after 18 minutes after the striker broke the offside trap to race in on goal and fired past Dylan Forth in the Lions goal.
The visitors had a number of chances to get back into the game, most notbaly through defender, Andrew Fitzgerald, who had two attempts on goal as one header fell inches wide and a second was saved on the goal-line.
The second half saw the hosts double their lead from a set-piece as Mills peeled off from his marker and steered the ball home from an acute angle.
Matthew Clarke later say red from the match referee following an off the ball incident but the Lions did not cower despite being a man light, continuing to make chances.
However Alport sealed the win after Everall tapped home inside the six-yard box following a cross from Dean Twigg.
Next up for Stockport Town is another away trip this weekend as Wild's Lions visit Abbey Hulton Utd on Saturday afternoon, kick-off 3pm.
