Stockport Town were defeated 3-1 at home by an undefeated Silsden last Saturday afternoon in the Hallmark Security League.
Goals from Kyle Hancock, Daniel Forrest and Joshua Eastwood saw the visitors secure their 10th consecutive victory in the league this season, maintaining their 100% record. Conor Downes equalised for Town in the first half but Silsden pulled away in the second period.
The scoring got underway early in the encounter, with Silsden taking the lead after just two minutes when Hancock guided his freekick through the Lions wall and past Dylan Forth in goal.
The Lions replied in the 10th minute when Downes smashed home from a cross, missed by Ben Halfacre in the box, into the top left corner of the goal to bring Town level.
Stockport finished the first half strongly with chances from Halfacre and Aaron Dwyer almost seeing them take the before the break however both side went in all-square at the interval.
The second half saw both sides maintain their battle for possession but neither could muster up any big chances before the 74th minute when Silsden retook the lead.
A simple corner into the Lions penalty area wasn't cleared first time as the ball dropped to Forrest on the six yard line and the midfielder fired in past Forth.
As the home side looked to get back into the match once again, they left themselves open to the counter attack but that wasn't to be the final blow.
Instead a poor tackle from the Lions defence saw Eastwood collect possession of the ball and the Silsden substitute proceeded to round an on-rushing Forth before slotting into an empty net.
Stockport were unable to produce anything in the remaining minutes as Silsden held on for yet another victory in what has turned out to be a sensational start to the league season for them.
The Lions are next in action at the weekend as they host another fixture at Stockport Sports Village, this time against Daisy Hill, kick-off 3pm.
