The Young Lions travel to bottom of the league Daten today knowing that 3 points will move them back to joint top of the table.
The bad spell of weather has left The U21s frustrated having not played a game since losing to West Kirby United on 21st January. That defeat was the first in 10 games, so the Lions will be hoping to get back on the pitch and back to winning ways as soon as possible.
With league leaders Burscough not in action this weekend, Jake Davies’ team have a great opportunity to join them on top of the table. With only 5 league games to go every game counts, and goal difference could also prove vital. Burscough currently have an +7 goal advantage.
Daten will be hoping to improve on recent results. Last time out they conceded 8 against Southport. Although bottom of the table they have 5 games in hand on 10th place St Helens Town, and a win could move them level on points.
What the Manager said
“The boys have been chomping at the bit to get back out on the pitch. It’s seems like an eternity since we last played. The defeat against West Kirby was hard to swallow considering we’d been on such a good run so we’ll be keen to make amends this weekend.
“We’ve got some important league and cup games coming up so it’s imperative we get a win and pull a run of victories together to ensure we’re challenging on all fronts come the end of the season”.
