Stockport Town travel to St Helens Town this Saturday afternoon as they look to make it three wins in a row in the Hallmark Security League.
The Lions, under the direction of Interim-Manager, Jake Davies, travel to the Arcoframe Stadium following consecutive victories over FC Oswestry Town and more recently away at Daisy Hill last Monday evening.
St Helens will no doubt be tough opposition for Davies and his side as they look to pull away from the relegation places in the Division One table. Under the management of Lee Jenkinson the Saints have gone through a difficult season so far but will be looking to bounce back to some form as the season reaches its climax and safety its more than achievable for his side.
Stockport go into this Saturday’s match with goals in their locker as they have netted nine goals without reply in their last two league outings. The weekend’s fixture also comes as preparation for the Lions’ biggest game in the club history, as they face Nantwich Town in the final of the Cheshire Senior cup on Wednesday evening.
The Saints will be hoping home advantage can give them the edge on the day, and they will be looking to their leading goalscorer, Shaun Brady, to help them secure a rare home win. Meanwhile Stockport will look to their towering striker, Ben Halfacre, to bag another vital goal as he looks to extend his new record as Stockport’s all-time leading goalscorer.
A fourth home win for St Helens this Saturday could see them leapfrog Bacup Borough above them in 19th place and extend the gap between themselves and Daisy Hill in the final relegation place. However Stockport will be looking to spoil any hopes for the hosts as they could jump above Holker Old Boys into 9th place as Davies’ side look to grasp hold of a top ten finish come the end of the season.
All the action gets underway at The Arcoframe Stadium on Saturday afternoon, kick-off 3pm.
