After an opening day defeat to local rivals Cheadle Heath Nomads, the lions will be hoping to get a first competitive win under Alan Lord at home to Stone Dominoes.
There were 9 full debuts for the lions last weekend and many of the starting line-up will be hoping to retain their place although the management team may look to make changes. Against Cheadle Heath the team conceded early in both halves so the hosts will be looking to be alert from the kick off. Chances were few and far between and the team will no doubt have worked on this in training to ensure the strike force of Czubik and Etches get a greater supply.
Stone Dominoes also started the season with a defeat, losing 2-1 to Abbey Hulton. Unlike the Lions who have had all week to stew on the defeat, the Doms were back in action 3 days later, beating Ellesmere Rangers 3-0. As a result they sit 5th in the table although at this early stage league positions are insignificant.
The game represents the first ever meeting between the 2 sides, with Stone Dominoes returning to the North West Counties for the first time since 2012/13, and Stockport Town only being established in 2014.
Ahead of the game, Head of the Management Team Alan Lord said "With a new squad and a new policy we know that there will be a vulnerability and inconsistency in the early stages but once this has been overcome then the squad and the club will benefit from it."
"Our short and long term targets will be based on a brand of football evolved from structured coaching, analysis of strengths and areas developed from previous games and a team dressing room of unity."
We have prepped up for Saturday's game and we hope that what’s been done on the training ground has its rewards"
