Cheshire Senior Cup – Round One | Monday 13 October 2025 | Stockport Sports Village. Att 232

Stockport Town produced a superb performance under the lights at Stockport Sports Village, defeating Hyde United 4–1 to progress into the next round of the Cheshire Senior Cup.

From the first whistle, Town looked sharp and full of intent, creating early chances through George Kattah and Callum Gardner. Their attacking pressure paid off midway through the first half when Keane Barugh chopped inside and fired a powerful strike into the net to open the scoring in the 25th minute.

Town continued to dominate proceedings and went into the break with a deserved 1–0 lead.

Just two minutes into the second half, Hyde levelled the contest when Scanlon finished well from a tight angle to make it 1–1. However, Town’s response was immediate. Kattah struck the bar moments later, before Ethan Padden met a cross with a header that also clipped the woodwork.

The breakthrough came in the 51st minute as Gardner showed great awareness to pull the ball back for Oliver Kvaternik, who calmly finished to restore the lead.

Town continued to press, and in the 67th minute Kvaternik grabbed his second of the night, this time after brilliant work from Jack Atkinson on the right flank.

Just two minutes later, Stockport were awarded a penalty after sustained pressure, and Callum Gardner stepped up to confidently slot home into the bottom corner, sealing an emphatic 4–1 lead.

Despite Hyde’s efforts to get back into the game — including a denied penalty appeal on 62 minutes — the Lions remained in control, showing composure and quality across the pitch to see out a commanding victory.

It was a ruthless and clinical display from Stockport Town, who now advance to the next round of the Cheshire Senior Cup full of confidence.
