Stockport Town look to make it two wins in two games in the new season by beating local rivals Abbey Hey at Abbey Stadium tonight
The Lions look ahead to their next match against the Red Rebels after a brilliant performance on Saturday against South Liverpool.
Last time out for Town, they secured victory and all three points in their first game of the season against the South. The score line would be 3-0 to the Lions, with the goals coming from new signings George Kattah and Josh Fowles.
That win would see Town secure their first league position of the season as they now sit in third place, just behind Padiham and Pilkington, who both had some excellent performances as well.
The last time the Red Rebels and the Lions played each other, it ended in a 4-1 win for Abbey Hey, with the goals coming from Saul Henderson, Joel Ankers, and Sekouba Sanogo for Abbey Hey; meanwhile, the only goal for the Lions came from Kai Johnston.
The Opponents:
Abbey Hey are in their second season in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division after they earned promotion in the 23/24 season by beating Town in the NWCFL Division One South promotion playoff final. Last Season, the Red Rebels finished in 13th place and three points behind the Lions.
The Red Rebels' first game of the season was a 1-1 draw away from home against Burscough. Meanwhile, their pre-season saw them have a record of 2 wins and 5 losses, with the only two wins coming against NWCFL Division One North side, Maine Road, and NWCFL Premier Division side, Glossop North End.
