Stockport Town will be looking to return to winning ways as they face fellow newly promoted side FC St Helens in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division
The Lions welcome another Merseyside team in St Helens to Stockport Sports Village on Saturday as the season nears an end with only four games remaining.
Last time out for Town, it was a 2-0 defeat at home against Second in the table and title chasers Lower Breck with goals from Sam Burns and an own goal from Harrison Lomakin-Rogers securing the victory for the away side.
That result saw Town drop down the table into 12th place and mathematically out of the playoff race.
The last time The Lions and Stripes played each other it ended in a 4-1 win for St Helens at SMS Pro Soccer Park.
The match today is crucial for the visitors because if FC St Helens lose against Town, they will mathematically be out of the playoff race.
The Opponents:
FC St Helens are currently in their first season in the NWCFL Premier Division after achieving promotion from the NWCFL First Division North as Champions. So far this season The Stripes sit in 8th place and are 10 points outside of the playoffs.
