Stockport Town head home with a point after 1-1 draw against Barnoldswick Town at the Silentnight Stadium
The Lions travel back to Stockport after a dominate display and a spectacular goal from Toby Green against Barlick with a point
Prior to this match, Town sat 10th and 10 points outside the playoffs and were looking to earn all three points to close the points gap. Meanwhile, Barlick sat in 13th and three points behind The Lions in the table.
In the first minute of the match, Darren Ehimamiegho played the ball into the box to Jamie Walsh, who then played it to Jack Atkinson but just as he was about to get the ball a Barlick defender dragged him down to the ground, but no penalty was given as he got a shot off on the ground, which was saved by the Barnoldswick goalkeeper.
Just a few minutes later, Atkinson was once again on the attack but just before he got the ball on the wing, the Barlick defender was able to stop to stop the attack, with The Lions shouting for another penalty, which was once again waved away by the referee.
In the seventh minute, the hosts had their first chance of the game. This chance saw Barlick have a shot that almost curled into the top left corner of Town’s net, but Josh Schofield made an amazing save to keep it level.
Before the second half kicked off, Barnoldswick made a change. This saw Ethan Gough come off for Luke Stowe.
Not long after the second half started Ethan Padden had a great run on the right-hand side before being fouled just outside the box. Toby Green then took the free kick and this saw the ball fly into the top left corner and put Town 1-0 up. After the goal, Ryan Moore was sin binned for the home side.
Town continued to have more chances and had a great chance to double the lead, but Ethan Padden headed over from a Callum Gardner free kick.
In the 57th minute, Jamie Walsh was replaced by Keane Barugh. Three minutes later, Barlick made a change of their own, this saw Lewis Farmer come on for James Ormrod.
Then in the 63rd minute, Procter received the ball on the counter and slotted the ball past Schofield and into the back of the net to make it 1-1.
Just three minutes later, Balick made their second change of the game. This saw Morgan Bird coming off for Jenson Butterworth.
In the 69th minute, Town made a double change. This saw George Omokua and Harrison Lomakin-Rogers come on for Ethan Padden and Adam Owen.
Not much action occurred after this change until the 74th minute when Barlick had a chance to take the lead, but Schofield once again pulled off a save to prevent the hosts taking the lead.
In the 78th minute, Harley Monaghan and Jack Atkinson were replaced by Sam Hare and Kylan Depeiaza.
With that result Town remain in 10th place but due to other results, the points gap decreased to nine points. Meanwhile, Barnoldswick remain in 13th and three points behind The Lions.
