Match Report: Stockport Town 0–2 Runcorn Town
Buildbase FA Vase – Second Round Qualifying | Saturday 20 September 2025 | Stockport Sports Village
Stockport Town’s FA Vase journey came to an end on Saturday afternoon, as Runcorn Town secured a 2–0 victory at Stockport Sports Village.
The visitors took the lead in the 24th minute when Will Avon fired them ahead from a well worked corner routine.
The Lions responded positively, creating openings and pressing forward in search of an equaliser, but went into the interval trailing 1–0.
After the restart, the Lions looked to get back on level terms, but Runcorn struck again in the 56th minute on the counter attack through substitute Ryan Katumba, giving the visitors a two-goal cushion.
Town continued to push in the latter stages, with Benson-Brewer and Keane Barugh both testing the goalkeeper, yet the breakthrough wouldn’t come. Despite the effort and determination shown across the team, Stockport were unable to find a way back into the contest.
The defeat brings an end to this year’s FA Vase campaign, but the club would like to thank all the supporters who turned out to back the team on the day on a horrendously wet afternoon at Stockport Sports Village.
Attention now turns back to league action on Tomorrow night, as the Lions travel to face Barnoldswick Town at the Silentnight Stadium, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
Starting XI - Schofield, Padden, L. Bent, Turnbull, Cole, Monaghan, Green, Hare (C), Kattah, Atkinson, Barugh. Subs - Kvaternik, Fowles, Gardner, Benson-Brewer, Depeiaza
