Ramsbottom United Match Preview
Stockport Town welcome league high-flyers Ramsbottom United to Stockport Sports Village for Saturday’s NWCFL Premier Division clash.
The Lions are looking to secure all three points to push themselves closer to the playoffs, but they must get past third place Ramsbottom United who will be looking to take all three points away from SK6 to push themselves top of the table.
Last Saturday, Town saw victory in a crucial match against FC Isle of Man as goals from Keane Barugh and Ethan Padden secured the win away from home. An early goal for The Ravens saw Town behind by half time but Barugh was able to get the equaliser and late on, Padden was able to slot the ball in to a empty net to make it 2-1 to The Lions and secure the win.
That win saw Town jump up to eighth place and only four points outside the playoffs but due to matters outside of The Lions control, they have since dropped down a position to ninth place.
The Rams and The Lions encounter on Saturday will be the first meeting between the two sides this season and on the 12th of April 2025, Town will travel up to Ramsbottom to meet up with the Rams once again.
The Opponents:
Ramsbottom are in their second season in the NWCFL Premier Division after being relegated from the Northern Premier League West Division in the 2022/2023 season. So far this season, Ramsbottom sit in third place and only two points behind Chadderton in first place.
Ramsbottom haven’t seen defeat in the league since September, which was a 2-1 loss at home against FC Isle of Man. The Rams last five league matches have seen them win three times and draw twice. Ramsbottom’s last match ended in a 5-0 win against Prestwich Heys in the Macron Cup third round.
