Stockport Town 0-1 Ramsbottom United
Ramsbottom United take all three points away from Stockport Town in the last game before Christmas.
The Lions saw a 1-0 defeat against title chasers Ramsbottom in the last match before Christmas.
The start of the match already saw chances for both sides but only eight minutes in, The Rams had shouts for a penalty waved away by the referee and a corner was awarded instead.
In the 13th minute, Ramsbottom had a chance on goal, but Town’s defence was able to stop the attack, however, the Rams felt that the tackle was unfair and called for a penalty, but the ref once again waved away the calls.
In the 27th minute, a well-placed corner found Radcliffe, who headed the ball into the top of the net and put the visitors in the lead. Town claims for a fould on Schofield were turned away by the referee and the visitors were 1-0 ahead.
After the break, Town came out on the front foot and started to dominate the ball as they searched for an equaliser.
In the 52nd minute, Keane Barugh had a great attacking run for Town going past the two Rams defenders but was eventually stopped just before entering the box and attack broke down.
Just a minute later, McLaughlin and Ramsbottom’s goalkeeper Rose both went for the ball in the Ramsbottom penalty area, Town claimed for a penalty and the Rams claimed for a free kick on Rose in their goal. The referee did nothing and play restarted after both players received treatment.
In the 65th minute both teams made a change. Town saw Padden come off for Ehimamiegho, who was making his home debut, While the Rams saw Lynch come off and Stacy come on.
Just a few minutes later in the 68th minute, Town made their second change of the game, this change saw Green come off for the returning Walsh.
Town had another penalty shout which was once again waved away by the referee after Ehimamiegho was brought down in the Ramsbottom area.
In the 83rd minute, McLaughlin was replaced by Omokua in Towns third change of the match.
The last change of the game was made by Ramsbottom. This saw Camara get replaced by Evans
Town kept proping and trying to find the equaliser but time ran out and the referee blew for full time.
This win for Ramsbottom sees them go second place but only by goal difference, while Town drop down to 11th in the table. Stockport Town’s next match will take place on boxing day away at
Glossop North End.
